Who is ACF? Ash Creek Fellowship or Azle Cycling Federation, etc. etc. We have not picked a name, and we don't have a formal organization, yet. Just a group of folks that love to cycle.
The purpose of this site (once we have someone to be the webmaster) is
to alert
you to biking opportunities in the Azle Area. There are a lot of cyclists
in the area
and we have been trying to round them up over the last couple of years.
Currently we ride almost every Saturday from Ash Creek Baptist Church at 300 Stewart Street. If you are coming from Fort Worth, take 199 (Jacksboro Hwy) to Azle, exit Stewart Street, and at the first light, turn left and the church is on the right 1/4 mile after you go through two more lights.
Our current meeting time each Saturday is 8:00am. We have riders from
their low 20's
up to those approaching 60. We don't drop riders but if we feel you have
started on a
journey that is too hard/far for your current fitness level, we will tell
you how to get back
to the church and recommend that you turn around. We usually ride on Saturday
anywhere
from 25-50 miles depending on who shows up and how much time everyone
has. We always ride as a group.
We hope that someday, we will have enough riders to have multiple groups
departing
on Saturday going on short (18-20 miles) and long (30-60 miles) rides
Meanwhile,
we invite everyone to come and join us on Saturdays and you might even
find a riding partner
for the weekdays.
Just one other note. If the pavement is wet when you look outside on
Saturday morning, we will
probably not ride unless it is clearing off. We don't ride when there
is lightning and we always
require you to wear a helmet. We also recommend a rearview mirror on your
helmet or glasses.
Also depending on the weather and amount of daylight we may change the
ride times. We will strive
to post the times here by the Wednesday night before the ride.
Oh yes, and since most of us go to Ash Creek Baptist Church, we invite you to worship with us on Sundays at 8:15 am or 10:45 am. Sunday School at 9:30 am.
